Meeting Minutes – October 26, 2021

The October 26, 2021 meeting was called to order at the Boone Courtyard Marriott by President Jim Street at 7:45 a.m.  There were 20 in person and 4 Zoom attendees.  Mary Friedman was a guest.

After the Pledge of Allegiance, Sergeant at Arms Nick Friedman collected Happy Dollars and facilitated the 50/50 drawing.

Happy Dollars and Announcements

Harold Tilley saluted Nick Friedman’s green socks with a Happy Dollar.

Ben Henderson recognized Harold Tilley’s purchase of 15 cases of fruit with another Happy Dollar.

Lynne Mason announced that Habitat for Humanity could use Club member help on three Wednesdays in November:  the 3rd, 10th and 17th at the building site near Greenwood.  She will provide contact details.

Ben Henderson provided a fruit sale update.

Induction/Introduction

President Jim Street inducted Gould Workman as a new member and formally introduced Kathy Scott, who transferred her membership.

Program

Brian Irving introduced Jenny McCoury of App State and Shelly Campbell, Watauga County Reading Specialist, to introduce details of the Early Steps Program, currently available at Parkway Elementary.  Jenny and Shelly joined by Zoom.

This program targets young children who are not reaching age-agppropriate milestones through a series of early intervention services.  There are currently 11 children enrolled in Early Steps at Parkway.

Technical audio difficulties in the hotel room made it impossible to record additional details.

After reciting the 4 Way Test, President Jim Street adjourned the meeting at 8:30 a.m.
