Positive, Lasting Change … in Boone and Around the World

The Boone Sunrise Rotary is about creating positive change in the world, one local community at a time. It’s about eradicating poverty in the Appalachians. It’s about providing clean drinking water in Tanzania. It’s about connecting with friends and neighbors in Boone and around the world — socially, professionally and personally. It’s about self-improvement and community-improvement.

Locally, the Boone Sunrise Rotary is a social, professional and humanitarian organization that is part of a wider community — on the Rotary District level and across our vast international fellowship. Most people associate local Rotary Clubs with weekly meetings. And it is true, we meet Tuesdays at 7:30 am (and yes, there IS coffee) at the Boone Courtyard by Marriott (map) for breakfast and a dynamic program each week on a variety of topics.

However, our weekly meetings are only one of many facets of Rotary life. We meet throughout the month for a variety of after-work social events, service projects and professional/community development opportunities. Whether you want to change your world, grow in your vocation, meet new people who care as much as you do or advance your education, Boone Sunrise Rotary can help.

Globally, Rotary International is a community of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, and community leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities and around the world. In more than 160 countries worldwide, Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs.

Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community’s business and professional men and women. The world’s Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.

The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today’s most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

Our differing occupations, cultures, and countries give us a unique perspective. Our shared passion for service helps us accomplish the remarkable.

What makes us different?

Our distinct point of view and approach gives us unique advantages:

  • We see differently: Our multidisciplinary perspective helps us see challenges in unique ways.

  • We make a difference at home and around the world: Our members can be found in your community and across the globe.
