On Tuesday, 8/2, newly-elected District Governor Gary Dills visited the Boone Sunrise Rotary Club for the first time since being chosen for the position.
A retired Air Force colonel, Dills urged members to embrace Rotary International’s 2016-17 theme, “Rotary Serving Humanity.”
Chosen by incoming Rotary International President John Germ, the theme embraces the organization’s “4-Way Test,” to support truth, fairness, peace and international goodwill.
Boone Sunrise Rotarians heard about the Top 10 issues facing local schools during a visit by Watauga County Superintendent of Schools Scott Ellliot.
The presentation probably drew the highest number (and most thoughtful) questions of any this year.
Dr. Elliott said that the system would focus on continuing and adding high-tech, knowledge-worker programs to the system as well as creating new types of flexible classroom experiences for those in unique situations. Photo courtesy of Leslie Smith
