Boone Sunrise Rotary Offers Teacher Scholarships

scholarship-blogThe Boone Sunrise Rotary Club will be providing a $1500 scholarship to one teacher in each school division in Watauga County: elementary, middle and high school. We are looking for applications for classroom activities that promote the Rotary Club’s five avenues of service:

  • Club/Classroom Service focuses on making classrooms strong. A thriving classroom is anchored by strong relationships.
  • Vocational Service calls on every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society.
  • Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest
  • International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, and more.
  • Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs.

As an added incentive, each teacher who applies will have their entire class entered into a drawing for an age appropriate backpack full of surprises. There will be one backpack prize given away in each classroom.

Applications are currently being accepted. To apply you must be a teacher in Watauga County. Your project should meet one of the five avenues of service mentioned above. Applications are available as a PDF download, or through your principal’s office. All applications must be postmarked by January, 31 2016. The top finalists will be required to present their project to our club on a Tuesday morning between the hours of 7:30-8:30.
